Prawns in Santa Anna Inlet!

Leaving Meyers Chuck Wednesday, we were treated to some fellow travelers after we turned into Ernest Sound, and a group of Dall porpoise began swimming back and forth across the front of our bow.

I had heard during our trip last time that there was great prawning in Santa Anna Inlet, and we were not disappointed. We dropped anchor and quickly but the tender in the water. Scott and Roland, under a drenching downpour, put the prawn traps out ... in 330-feet of water!

The next day, we were not disappointed. At least not totally. The brought up one trap filled with more than 2 dozen prawns. The other trap, we believe, was so full the line broke just as it was coming up and the trap fell 300 feet back to the bottom ... sadly, we probably would have a lot more.

Nonetheless, we had a great shrimp cocktail for lunch!
